Ensure Secure and Efficient Airway Management with Expert Intubation

Intubation, also known as tracheal intubation, is a vital medical procedure involving the insertion of a flexible plastic tube into the trachea (windpipe) to keep the airway open or administer specific medications. This technique is fundamental in airway management, providing a safe and unobstructed breathing pathway for patients during medical emergencies or surgical procedures.

Endotracheal tubes are essential in this process. Specially designed for placement within the trachea, they facilitate effective ventilation for patients who are unable to breathe on their own. Once positioned, endotracheal tubes are typically connected to a ventilator, ensuring the direct delivery of oxygen to the lungs. This makes them indispensable for respiratory support and critical care. The procedure of inserting the tube—known as endotracheal intubation—is a cornerstone of respiratory therapy and modern medical care across various clinical settings.

Key Product Features & Benefits

  • Medical-Grade Construction: Made from soft, flexible, thermosensitive medical-grade PVC, these tubes offer superior comfort and safety during intubation.
  • Universal ISO Connector: Features a 15mm ISO standard connector for enhanced compatibility with a wide range of medical equipment and settings.
  • Atraumatic Rounded Tip: Designed with an atraumatic rounded tip and murphy eye to reduce patient discomfort and minimize the risk of airway trauma during insertion.
  • Clear Size Identification: Each tube includes a pilot balloon clearly marked with the tube size, allowing for quick identification and accurate placement.
  • Radiopaque Sideline: A blue radiopaque line runs the length of the tube, assisting clinicians in verifying correct positioning via imaging for improved patient safety.
  • Distinct Insertion Markings: Clear guidelines, including 2cm vocal cord markings, support accurate tube placement and help prevent errors.
  • Sterile Individual Packaging: Every tube is individually packaged in a sterile sachet, maintaining product integrity and hygiene until the point of use.
  • Single-Use Design: Intended for one-time use only, these tubes eliminate the risk of cross-contamination between patients.
  • Optimal Cuff Design: The low-pressure, high-volume cuff minimizes tracheal wall pressure and reduces the risk of creasing during inflation. Cuffed options are also available.
  • Intubation Confirmation: Transparent tubing allows clinicians to observe misting, confirming successful intubation.

Who Uses Endotracheal Tubes?

Endotracheal tubes are essential tools for healthcare professionals managing patients who require a secure airway. They are utilized when patients cannot maintain airway patency, protect against aspiration, ventilate adequately, or oxygenate effectively. These tubes are indispensable in situations where respiratory failure is anticipated, enabling direct delivery of oxygen and inhaled gases to the lungs while protecting against contamination from gastric contents or blood—helping to prevent complications such as ventilator-associated pneumonia.

Their use is critical in intensive care units, emergency departments, and operating rooms, where airway security is paramount for patient safety and effective treatment.

How to Use Endotracheal Tubes

To use an endotracheal tube (ET), begin by choosing the appropriate size and opening the sterile packaging. In non-emergency situations, lubricate the distal tip and the balloon. Attach a syringe (10–20cc) to the pilot balloon and test balloon integrity by inflating and deflating it.

Insert a stylet to shape the tube as required, then return the prepared tube—with stylet and syringe attached—to the packaging until needed. It’s advisable to have a tube one size smaller available for backup, and to keep an end-tidal CO₂ detector ready.

During intubation, gently insert the tube through the patient’s mouth or nose and guide it into the trachea. Once positioned, connect the tube to a ventilator to maintain a patent airway, supporting the patient’s ability to breathe or receive medication as needed.

We can get the in-between sizes on quest.
