The Evolution Continues: Now Available in Four Paediatric Sizes
What is i-gel?
i-gel, developed by Intersurgical, is a single-use supraglottic airway device, the result of years of intensive research and development. Crafted from medical-grade thermoplastic elastomer, i-gel is designed to form a non-inflatable, anatomical seal around the pharyngeal, laryngeal, and perilaryngeal structures, minimizing the risk of compression trauma. Available in seven sizes—including four for paediatric patients—each i-gel is supplied in a unique, colour-coded polypropylene protective cradle.
Every element of the i-gel is engineered to harmonize with patient anatomy for optimal airway management.
Key Features and Benefits
- Made from a soft, gel-like material for smooth insertion and reduced trauma
- Gastric channel enables suctioning, nasogastric tube placement, and venting to enhance patient safety
- Integral bite block helps prevent occlusion of the airway channel
- Design minimizes device rotation and reduces risk of airway obstruction from epiglottis downfolding
- Innovative packaging maintains device shape and protects during transit
- 15 mm connector for compatibility with standard catheter mounts
- Clearly marked product information for easy identification of size and weight guidance
- Position guide for accurate insertion depth confirmation
- Buccal cavity stabilizer aids insertion and prevents rotation
- Epiglottis blocker reduces the chance of airway obstruction
- Non-inflatable cuff made from unique gel material allows easy, rapid, and reliable insertion
- Latex-free for added patient safety
Non-Inflatable Cuff Advantage
The i-gel’s name comes from its soft gel-like material, which enables the creation of a non-inflatable cuff. This innovative feature makes insertion quick, simple, and consistently reliable—often achievable in under five seconds by skilled users.
Applications
Ideal for securing and maintaining a patent airway during routine and emergency anaesthesia of fasted patients, including those undergoing spontaneous or intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV).
Innovative Packaging
Each i-gel is supplied in a colour-coded polypropylene cage pack designed to preserve its anatomical shape during transit.
Availability
i-gel is available in seven sizes, including four paediatric options. Please specify your preferred size when ordering.
