Description
The Forestry England Personal First Aid Kit meets the standards set by both the HSE and Forestry England. Designed to reduce risk and ensure rapid access to emergency care, this kit should be carried on your person at all times when operating a chainsaw. Proper training in the use of the kit’s contents is essential. As a minimum, the kit must include at least one haemostatic dressing, a combat-style tourniquet, and a whistle. In addition, a worksite first aid kit should always be available at a central location.
Both employers and self-employed individuals must assess their specific first aid needs. It is vital to ensure there are enough trained first aiders and suitable facilities to provide immediate assistance to anyone experiencing illness or injury. Arrangements should be in place to summon an ambulance or professional medical help without delay.
For chainsaw operations, first aid kits are required to include a tourniquet, haemostatic dressing, and a safety whistle. Additional kit contents for forestry workers should be determined by the specific tasks and risks identified during a thorough risk assessment.
